Within 15 Days

Voluntary Payment of Administrative Penalty

You may pay the Penalty amount anytime within 15 days of the contravention date on the Penalty Notice. Penalty Notices that have been handwritten may be delayed in appearing on-line for payment. Penalty Notices can also be paid over the telephone using a credit card. For more information about this payment option please contact the City of Peterborough Tax Office at 705-742-7777 extension 1865. Please also refer to Option 1 on the backside of your Penalty Notice for payment options.

After 15 Days

Fee – Late Payment

After 15 days, a “Final Notice” will be sent to the current owner's mailing address of the vehicle which received the penalty notice. The Final Notice will have a due date on it by which the Penalty must be paid and the addition of an Administrative Fee. The adjusted amount due for payment will be listed on the Final Notice as the total amount due. Should you receive a Final Notice in the mail once you have paid the Penalty, you should check with the Tax Office at 705-742-7777 extension 1865 to ensure that your payment was received.

After Final Notice Due Date

Once the due date for the Final Notice has passed, the Penalty amount is no longer available to be paid through the City of Peterborough's on-line payment system. At this time, the matter will be forwarded to the ministry of Transportation for licence plate denial (“Plate Denial”) and an Administrative Fee will be added to the amount owing. The Penalty may be paid at a Service Ontario location.
